The Playground

The Playground
A NEW HOME FOR CLASSIC GAMEPOINT GAMES
Starting this week the GamePoint website will undergo some changes: Simpler, better, more fun. To keep the new GamePoint website clear of clutter, we will move some of the less popular GamePoint games to a new home: From now on Backgammon, Blockbox, Chess, Darts and Pool can be found on the Playground.

The Playground
On The Playground you'll find all your favorite classic GamePoint games. These games will no longer be supported on GamePoint.com itself. Because players from all over the world will join each other on The Playground, chances of you finding an opponent for these smaller games is quite a bit higher. Starting a game will be faster and you'll get to meet people from all over the globe!

Log in to the Playground using your GamePoint username. You'll have an unlimited amount of Coins to play those classic GamePoint games that used the Coin system.

VIP Profiles
On the soon-to-be-launched new GamePoint.com, player profiles will get a bit of a make-over. To prepare for the new gamer profiles, the old VIP profiles that are currently live on the GamePoint website will be retired to The Playground. All your photos and guestbook entries will be moved along with your profile and can be downloaded if you would like a backup.

Tournament System
As some of you will know, we've been working on a new tournament system for quite some time: Starting your own tournament from within the game, automatic score keeping. Everything you'd want from a tournament system. In preparation for this new system, we're moving the old tournament system to The Playground. By visiting the Playground, you will still be able to manage tournament for games on the GamePoint.com website.

If you're left with questions, please don't hesitate to ask: We're looking forward to taking this trip with all of you!

Best,

Your GamePoint Team

Are there going be TDs like there was before. I found that it was easier when there were TDs that held tournys. I myself was a TD and I really enjoyed it.

Aernout -

Hi DJ_MzRocks,
TD's were a great addition to GamePoint and helped making it a fun place to hang out for many players. However within The Playground we will not be setting up players with extra options, such as a TD. We are putting our energy now towards a new tournament system allowing you to set up awesome tournaments within the game itself. This will allow players from social networks and mobile devides to also particpate for example, thus making your tournament potentially a lot bigger.

Cheers,

Aernout

So...if I read it all right...GP is splitting into two separate sites?

And when you say old VIP profiles live on GP will be retired to the Playground. What happens with players that have VIP that don't play the games listed as being moved to the Playground? Will VIP/SVIP still be available on GP itself?

GP_Jeff - 25 May, 2014 11:43 AM

VIP will still be available on GamePoint. Only the VIP profile pages move to the Playground. If you have some pictures uploaded for example, you can still access them on the Playground.

VIP options in game will still exists such as animated emoticons, higher daily gift etc.

Can I use this name on both GP and the playground ?

GP_Jeff - 25 May, 2014 11:44 AM

Yes, that will be possible. You can login on both GamePoint and the Playground with your username.

Why change Gamepoint.com and not www.spelpunt.nl?

The same mess as 4 years ago, when the forum close and we get a other Layout.

I play now 12/13 years Darts and always have Players nothing to say.

That make me everytime very angry.

GP_Jeff - 25 May, 2014 11:45 AM

Both GamePoint and Spelpunt will have this change. GamePoint just a bit sooner.

What happens whit my Coins,i have years logon in for more then 17000 Coins,i use them for playing Bingo on my iPad so IF i lose this coins now see i that as theft.

GP_Jeff - 25 May, 2014 11:48 AM

You won't loose any of your coins. All your coins stay on your username on GamePoint. On the Playground you will get free coins to play with and will not have to worry about coins at all.

Few Questions

1, will this site still have an English chat room, 2, will Gamepoint still advertise darts on facebook etc and will they or playground advertise it better as there is many darts sites that have lots of players in the 100,s but here gets 20 odd to 30 a day and this darts games is the best version on any internet site. if advertised better on facebook to get the attention of darts fan over the world then darts could get 100,s a day playing. 3, Can they go back to the original 2009/10 version of darts as it was a way better version of the game.

Aernout -

Hi Lerpwl,

1: The Playground will have game specific chats. When on the Playground you will not be able to chat with players playing on GamePoint.com. These really are seperated places to play at.

2. No, we will remove those Facebook walls. The goal is not to advertise it, but give you and other players who love these games an opportunity to continue to play these games, while we move our focus to new(er) games.

3. Unfortunately not ;-). We are not planning on changing/updating any of the games or features which are retiring to the Playground.

Tasja_RIP -

maybe dumb question but the dutch and english version is too complicated for me to understand properly so i rather ask in my own words and hope for a reply that i can actually understand :

The Bingo (since im bingo player) will be like it is now available via Gamepoint?

Aernout -

Hello Penny

Paulajstate -

Hi on Gp

If i get this right, your saying that when we are in the playground we cant see the people thats on our friends list playing or chat to them if they are on the Game Point site, VIP,s pay money for the perks such as being able to add more people to their friends list that enables them to see friends as they come on line and to  invite or be invited to join games each one is playing. Actually this applies for non VIPs also.

While i'm here (I got to say this) I don't like being branded with the name CLUTTER, ohhh i know you didnt call us players directley but I have and many other have been playing Darts for many years and i dont know how others see it My view is in calling the game clutter your also calling its players,(after all a game without its players is nothing at all)

LAST BUT NOT LEAST: Is the game of 31 remaining on the GamePoint site? I play this  game quiet alot and most of the time it has less gamers than Darts! So can you please explain how you came to the decision that Darts was less popular. (it may not have as many players as most games but its more popular than some that isnt being removed from the GamePoint site.

Aernout -

Hi! We are renewing the website and during that process removing some of the less popular Java games. The decision which game is or isn't removed is based on ideas we have with the game, the chances it has to grow, the current size and the ability (if its still in Java) to make it available in Flash. So its partly by our own judgement, but mostly based on data.

However some of the games we want to remove still have a decent amount of players, as your beloved darts game, so we decided to move these to another area where players can continue to enjoy the game. However this area is not linked to GamePoint, nor will it be supported in any way.

In regards to your latest questions: This is again based on data. Thirtyone is still very popular on our Dutch site, which will be merged together with GamePoint at some point this year. If you combine those players ThirtyOne is a lot bigger compared to Darts, explaining why this game will stay with GamePoint for now.

does n oone want to answere my questions:(

You are fully aware that the Card Party Games are not player friendly?  One does not know if the correct setting is in place ie, combo on or off.  I don't know who was consulted when intializing the new game but, they clearly did not keep the player in mind.  Then the spin in the cp is very confusing.  Twisted was asked for answers and none were forthcoming.   I also have issues with the number of wilds that are distributed.  That should be an option of wilds on or off because they are not fairly or reasonably dealt.

Aernout -

Thats off-topic ;-). However if you click on "Lobby" at the right bottom you will find all games, including all options within those games. The 2 options at the beginning are the ones that are most used by players (so the decision to use those 2 was based on data).

Ticey - 2 June, 2014 4:39 PM

Sure it's off topic but getting you to respond in a direct manner is nearly impossible.  I would love for you to come on as a player and play....lets say 15 cp games.  Is the data from your players or your staff/volunteers?  Answer some of the appropriate questions that some of the host are incapable of answering.
